Walnut Blasting (REFERENCE)

I would participate but my car only has 17000 miles. I was told you really don't need walnut blasting until you get past 30,000 miles. Any truth to this.

Darcy, I think it is too early. Based on what I've searched before and I am no expert, most of the cars are more than 60K. I think I saw/read something before that they did it at 45 to 50K and there is already a build up. 17K is still a brand new car to me.

Great! I think there is another car scheduled in tuesday. Solo already took before pictures. But mine is already 70+k, i am more interested to see 45 to 50k or lower.

I replaced the oil housing gasket today and took a peek at the valves, they were dirty but it didn't have gunks on the valves, which leads me to believe the previous owner had the valves cleaned before

When I replaced the gaskets I didn't take pictures. I will ask solo to take before and after pics when he does the job on the 23rd. I'll post them then. I like your idea

Just curious as I like the idea xtian had about this thread being a list of engine type, mileage, before and after photos, and impressions after the cleaning.

I had to reschedule with solo and will be going in Monday morning!

Should be just over 47k miles at that point so we will see. Never had any "puddles" of oil when I swapped charge pipe or FMIC as some folks describe, just a thin coating | residue.

I'm an early build date N55. Will report back tuesday!

^ I added the engine type but i don't think there would be a big difference. N54 and N55 are similar egines and both direct injection type which is the main problem. We will know from ur car.

1) Engine type @ what miles?
2) 1st, 2nd or 3rd owner? 1st, 2nd or 3rd cleaning?
3) Do you have an Oil Catch Can? How many miles installed?
4) Ur review

I added 1st or 2nd owner. Also added 1st, 2nd or 3rd cleaning. If you are unsure, please indicate not sure.

If u hv more suggestions, pls let me know. Let's keep the list simple. I added OCC becuase this part has a direct effect on intake valve's oil deposits.
