RWD VS AWD axle shaft

So a 100$ and 2h job, turned into a 300$+ job and 3 days.

Getting a bearing + axle refresh on my E91 162k miles, check the parts on REAL OEM, and just checked the arms part number and the spindle. All the same.

Then get a dirt low mile spindle assembly, with arms and cv joint on a scrap yard for 100$.

Then realized that the cv joint is not the same , so the bearing in the spindle.

the freaking LK value is not the same !

So my cv joint is from a RWD, and wont fit on the AWD diff input shaft !

Now, do I need to get a new AWD spindle ?
I've already ordered a new axle.

fu bwm to make all parts look a like on e90 and not being the same. lesson learned

oh also is not possible to remove the lower control arm without getting the exhaust low.

it's not BMWs fault that you failed to look up part numbers and cross reference them before you went parts car shopping.

e91s use the larger hubs because they're fat.
there's also a difference in XI and RWD, XI hubs are also the large size.
IIRC a RWD 335 is the same stuff.

again, check realoem and cross reference hub numbers.
I'd bet you can much more easily junkyard X series parts that fit as well.

i don't blame the actual issue on bmw, but damn engineer a working too much sometime.

I saw part numbers on REALoem, and cv and hub is not the same. Fortunately the wheel carrier is the same, so for all the suspension component around the it.

XI got a 25mm, shaft.
RWD got a 22.5mm shaft.

I don't see any difference between E90XI and E91XI.

Also , somethings wrong with the part or its just me ?

both CV on E90 and E91 are the same part #, but the nut is not. The M24-1.5 is a 22.5mm inside D, proper for RWD cv only.

I do believe if I'm using a COMPLETE assembly from a RWD on the AWD, I might work. But since the CV joint is only sold without the differential input shaft, I can't try it. Any way , I want OEM stuff, not frankenstein stuff.

In fact there's a mistake on real oem.

On the hub sub menu the nut is the right size.

Doesn't help me on my confusion.

Getting a complete XI E90 assembly right now. If it doest fit, fck it, I put back my old one.

I'm not sure on all the different variations of axle shafts there may be. I imagine there's several.
in that regard, yes, I blame accountants.
