Codes 2c58 and codes 3012 Help

I have a 2012 e92 n55 motor. I’m getting codes 2c58 charging pressure control off as a consequence
3012 exhaust camshaft installation faulty. With the codes present i get a half check engine light. And at start up the rpm rises up and down as if maybe finding correct timing ?

Seems straight forward, (3012)incorrect installation of
exhaust camshaft which in turn (2c58) is turning off boost pressure to protect car.

Fix 3012

If you haven't just installed camshaft wrong you can try to clean sensor, its magnetic so might have shavings blocking sensor, its B6224...

Or you haven't installed camshaft wrong and cleaning sensor doesn't work a new sensor is about twenty dollars, part number 13627525014

Okay I’ll try to clean the sensors or get new ones.

Hi there.

I have the exact same problem as you. Did cleaning the camshaft sensor fix the issue for you?

Hi,

Sorry, I'm still relatively new with working on cars.

Was the sensor causing the timing to be off, or did you have to manually adjust the cam timing?

Thanks

Cam timing was off. Cost me 700 at shop for them to do. Also recommend new cam bolts

Ouch. Thanks for the help.

Here's to hoping it's the sensor in my case.

Does the car idle high then down when you cold start it ? If so that’s it trying to find timing

Yeah, it does. Sounds like the timing then.

I'm going to call BMW tomorrow and check if my car ever had the VANOS bolt recall. If not, I'll probably take it in for the recall work, which I assume means they'll have to set the timings anyway and get a free valve cover gasket out of it.

Garage just confirmed the timing is out. Recall was done in 2015 but they're going to replace all the bolts as they're in stock at the local BMW dealer and they're not very expensive.

Hopefully the end price isn't too bad, should have the car back this week.

Just got it back. They replaced all of the VANOS gear bolts, just to be on the safe side.

Total was £320, so really not too bad. Idle is noticeably smoother now compared to even before the errors came up.

Been driving an automatic for the past two weeks that I haven't had it so now I'm getting used to having a clutch pedal again.

My vanos bolts were already updated on my model so i didn’t have that recall. Glad it’s fixed

Mine already had the recall done, but they opted to replace the bolts anyway. They're super cheap so no point in not doing it really.

Thanks, it's a relief to finally have to fixed.
