Received e-mail from Dension - Icelink in Development
I e-mailed Dension USA through their website, asking if an Icelink is in development for the 3-series. Given the complexity of the car and the fiber optic setup, etc., I expected the answer to be no. However, I received this:
>> Yes it is. If you would like to be added to the waiting list, please email me with all your car and contact information and I will let you know as soon as there is something available.>> No details as to whether it will be compatible with navigation, Logic7, etc., but it's at least promising that something is in development. |

They have been "in development" for months. I remember checking out thier site back in May 2005 when the E90 was released to get information about the Icelink. At that time, there was a section of the website where they commented on a MOST compatible Icelink being released Q2 2005.
I have heard good things about the Icelink for the E46, so hopefully this will work out for the E90.

I was skeptical too, so I called Icelink and spoke to the person who responded to my e-mail. She said that the product should be out in 1 to 1.5 months. She mentioned MOST and fiber-optics before I did, so she seemed to have a good handle on the situation.
If you call them (866-822-3673, x121) you can ask to be put on the waiting list for the e90, in which case they will e-mail you when the product is released. If lots of us call and ask to be placed on the waiting list, we may be able to expedite actually getting the product released. Any good company responds to market demand, after all. Actually, I should ask - is there demand for this product? I thought that when I posted this info, more people would respond. Maybe everyone is just tired of waiting. |

Yeah, I have a "I'll believe it, when I see it" attitude.
