EPS mids to replace HiFi?

Hello,
I already have a match pp62dsp amp/processor installed. I have adjusted the sound as well as I can. From what I've read, the stock underseat woofers are actually quite good. What do you guys think about putting the EPS mids instead of the stock HiFi? I am getting 2 for 100$ CAD which is almost nothing. I like it because it'll bolt right into the existing 3 hole mount used in our cars.

Helix match 3 way bmw set for the fronts(floors and doors) is a mid range set
of speakers. the high fi under seats are quite muddy but do
put out some bass with a better amp.

The MS 83C-BMW.1 three-way component system with car-specific upgrade speakers features 1“ tweeters with coated silk dome for natural sound reproduction ready to install in original mirror triangle mounting parts. The 4“ midranges are designed for original mounting positions in the doors and the 8“ woofers fit into the under-seat enclosure.Very compact high end crossovers with band stop filter provide accurate frequency

They will fit, but you should get the matching tweeters too. You will also need the special cross over & harness. Also, they are 4ohm. It will take more juice to run them. I'm not sure it's PnP going from HiFi to EPS. I know it is going from logic 7 to EPS.

I was actually thinking about going from hifi to logic 7 or individual speakers and tweeters. I have already changed my head unit, amp and have added a true 12" sub. My amp is a 5 channel and I am using technics harness. The factory hifi speakers sound much better with my Alpine 149BT deck and Kenwood XR900-5 amp just not quite good enough for me. I wonder if amping some of the individual/logic 7s would be a significant upgrade.

I have a JBL MS-8 , which is a DSP of sorts. I run my RCA cable from the head unit to the DSP, and then run everything out from the DSP to my other two amps.

I have a JL Audio 6 channel amp, each channel being 75 watts per channel & an Alpine 5 channel amp with one dedicated sub channel being one of the 5 channels.

There is no question in my mind that the ESP speakers are superior to the logic 7 speakers; I have had both. I had both the Logic 7 & ESP speakers on just the JBL MS-8, which only put out about 30 watts a channel at 2ohm & maybe 20 watts a channel at 4ohm.

The moment I put amps on the EPS speakers, they really came alive. I don't recommend putting an amp on the logic 7 speakers unless you know the amp only puts out around 40 watts per channel. I don't think they are rated much higher than that. The EPS speakers are rated at 140 watts I think. The JL Audio at 75 watts per channel is just right, in my opinion, for these speakers.

My amp puts out 60w RMS at 4 ohm and 75w RMS at 2 ohm. What is the ohm rating of the EPS speakers? Does anyone know? Also, are the Logic 7 speakers yellow and the EPS silver? Ive never been clear on that.

EPS are 4ohm - gold

Logic 7 are 2ohm - silver

If it were me, I'd get the EPS speakers & another amp.

I'd use the current amp you have just to run the subwoofer & two under the seat subs. I'd get some under the seat that have more of a mid-range flavor to them. Ones that have a range of say 40 to 500mhz. You can try the EPS subs, but they tend to have mixed reviews. The logic 7 subs blow

Im not even using the underseats. They are muddy and poorly positioned. Why BMW didn't put them lower in the doors I dont know. In my E39, I had a 2.1 system, with Boston Acoustics Pro50SE in the doors and just my sub in the back with the ski pass open. It sounded glorious. Detailed and full. If the EPS are as good as everyone says, my setup should work with them well. I just wish I could get my Bostons in there without major modification.

There are better alternatives for the under the seat subs. However, a mid-bass sub is rare and not cheap.

The guys on the M3 forums like the Ghost made by Bav Sound. $600.00 🤔

That is a lot of loot for a "maybe" good mid bass replacement. Focal had an underseat option some years ago. Im not sure if it was marketed as a sub or mid bass. I just hate the positioning of the thing. Its like it is disjointed from the rest of the system, no matter how good the driver is. My system sounds much better with it out of the loop, especially since I have a genuine 12" sub in the back.

Jenhert makes the best mid-bass for our cars, hands down. I have never heard anyone complain about them. They are about $450.00. There are two dealers that I know of in the US.

Kicker SSMB - 8 is probably the second best option, but you won't find them; they are a rare find used.

Jehnert Xe 200's
You can get the slimline kit for a little more
but I don't know how good there 4 inch mids are.
VP electricity use to favor the Morel doors over the
Jehnert doors I believe . There doorboards look awsome
some have reported they are.

Xe 200 is way better than most anything under 1k.

Having a decent amp is key to making the better speakers
really sing.

I believe Eton makes drop in replacement subs for our cars, too. Not much reviews on them though.

I'd also like to eventually upgrade my underseat subs. Right now I am running EPS everything except the subs and amp (both of these are stock L7). Hoping to achieve a plug and play upgrade for the subs and amp - either EPS amp or otherwise.

From what I've read up, the individual audio mids are very similar to the logic 7 (im not sure if they're the same) but the tweeters are different (much nicer on individual). I bought the speakers and now Im going to get the matching wiring harness and crossover and Ill let you guys know how the pair up.

The EPS mids in the front doors are considerably better than the Logic 7, especially at 75%+ volume.

The wiring harness will have to be ordered. ECS & FCP do not keep them in stock.

You need part number - 65137840987

You also need the cross overs, which also (most likely) need to be ordered. You might find them on eBay, but probably not.

Part number - 65137838929

Well, no EPS speakers for me. I found my crossover for my Focal 100 VRS speakers. They fit with Technics speaker adapters and sound fantastic. Im glad I dont have to resort to lesser components now. Thanks for all the info guys. If I blow these, EPS are what I will look into. Unless someone knows where I can get a set of Illusion Audio C4s speakers. Crutchfield used to carry them for around $699 but that was a bit more than I wanted to spend at the time. They no longer have them and I cant find them anywhere.
