I did...the MILVS and the Tune...call and ask Randall for an estimate...I forget what they charged me...and I had them doing other things at the same time anyway...

I've got mine pretty dialed in now. Needs a bit more work at ~6500rpm, but probably with the 3-stage there's not much I can do with that anyway. Even at low RPM/part throttle, there's a noticeable difference, and the intake is louder too.
It's a pretty tough DIY for a novice I think - if you're paying a shop, I'd add an hour or two of labor on top of whatever the VCG replacement is. Also, you probably don't want just any shop doing this, but one that is familiar with the N52 - or they'll be just as likely to rip one of the screws out of the head as you are.. |

Nice. A bit more than expected? even the low RPM/part throttle?

at first, to be honest it felt slower. I have made some adjustments however and there's definitely more in the mid-range than I was expecting. It's kind of addicting how much faster it feels. It actually surprised me a bit today at lunch when I passed some lady going like 10mph after exiting a roundabout (while wandering between lanes and not signaling, ugh). I probably would have gotten a big fat speeding ticket if a cop happened to be there.
I want to head back to a dyno, possibly sometime in the next couple months. |

Same here, I'm waiting for a cool morning with Spring-like conditions to dyno mine! Can't wait.

FINALLY, the time has come for me to finish my e90 N52 performance mods. Shop time is booked and I am buying up the last few odds and ends needed for all the work getting done. Been waiting a long time for this!
Big question on my mind is software. It's the last big decision/purchase I need to make. What is the forum consensus on the best currently available MILVs tune? is it BPC? I guess "best" means highest output with no reliability concerns (are there any?). I see posts about AA tune which is cheaper but no options for MILVs is selectable on the AA website. Are there any other options? Any wisdom or input would be appreciated.

I would skip AA if you want/have MILVS. I'm working on my own tune but right now BPC is the most proven.
now that I can datalog with ProTool, I should be able to get much better feedback. |

Car is still in the workshop, so no hurry. Insurance company bought off on the repairs, even paid up front so I should see my car in a few weeks. Just ordered new tires for the rear, not too many options for 255 x 30R x 19d. $$$ Wife is paying attention to costs. LOL. Really just too busy to contribute right now. That time of the year. Boat shows coming up on October. |

Okay, thanks for the suggestion, hass. I guess I will go with BPC. With a new mod like this, seems like it makes sense to just buy what we know works. Interested to hear more about your tune as it develops though. And happy to be a guinea pig if you ever need one, haha.

I have AA tune, and it's been more than 3 months since I've been waiting on AA to reply with the updated MILVS tune, none. I don't mean to bad mouth about them up here, but from the trend of things so far, Hass got it right, BPC is the way to go if you are doing the MILVS install.

You might decide to do MILV’s down the line (or might not) but at least that option is still on the table. With the way BPC has shown their support for the n52 over the last couple years and is continuing to pursue new add ons (MILV’s, e85, supercharger, etc) I think any other option (in the US) would be a mistake because you limit yourself down the line. I agree with you, biginboca. BPC has really rolled up their sleeves and shown they are willing to support continued N52 build iterations. I do already have MILVs installed so it's imperative whatever tune I purchase can make use of that hardware. Thanks for the responses guys!

Building a new graphing tool for datalogs - heres my 0-60 time, about 4.5-5 seconds. Not bad for a "slow" N52, right?
I'll post a better version later, as the tool is still a bit crude and i cant currently highlight points on mobile. MILVS, MAF delete, RM hose, K&N panel filter. Car is otherwise 100% stock and original, 139k miles. Last edited by hassmaschine; 09-12-2018 at 11:20 PM.. |

I also am a huge fan of the N52 engine, and have all the faith in this engine, putting a blower on it at 160k miles!
