128GB thumb drive not working?

I have a 2009 e92 and replaced my 64GB thumb drive with a 128GB one. It showed up as "not recognized" so I reformatted from exFAT to NTFS, but it's still not working. Any ideas? It's a Samsung thumb drive if that makes any difference

I reformatted it to FAT32 with Partition Manager and now works (on my PC too, despite a warning saying it isn't officially supported for large partitions)
