348mm discs on pre lci e92
Strange one.
I believed my 330d coupe (57 plate) was meant to have the smaller 330mm front discs So today got some discs and pads for the front. Went to fit them and the front discs are 348mm. I thought this was the 335d front disc size and the 330d coupe didnt receive this upgrade untill the lci model. Anyways eurocarparts gave me the bigger discs as a straight swap so got a mega mega deal today anyways |

I seem to recall some 330x have the 335x brakes. I'm not sure what defines why they do. I figured perhaps they were put on to the last ones made before the full LCI update.

Im on an SE though and it did come with some nice extra's, but no msport kit or suspension so i find it strange the original purchaser would spec the bigger brakes

The early E92 330D came with the 348mm front discs. This changed late 2009 when they where fitted with 330mm front discs. Note this occurred before the launch of the LCI. The front discs remained at 330mm until E92 production ended.
It's irrelevant whether or not the model is SE or M-Sport. You're probably aware that all 335s come with the larger disc. Hope this helps |

Okay i see.
From what i have read eveyone seems to think the lci upgrade brought the front disc size from 330mm to 348mm. So i guess it was the other way around? |

My 2008 330i has the smaller 330mm discs, a fact pointed out to me by an Indy; he said it should have had the bigger size.
Can I change the disc to the larger size without any further work needing done, such as changing the calipers/caliper carrier? |

As far as what bits are needed to change to the larger discs, use realoem.com to compare caliper, etc. |

Realoem suggests the E92 had 348mm disks as standard until 09/2009. After then it appears to change to 330 as standard with a 348mm option.
The E90 had 330's from the start of production with 348 as an option. After LCI the 348 was fitted as standard. Rather odd! |

The caliper itself is a totally different design and is wider to accomodate the 30mm thick disk. The carrier positions the caliper in the correct place, and thus needs to be different to move it over for the larger disk. |

I have a april 2008 330d e90 and that also has the 348mm disc's i was suprised and unsure so i bought mine from the dealers instead to make sure i got the right ones.
Realoem was a little vague, the way i noticed was the minimum thickness was quite different and upon measuring i found mine to be thicker. |

I also agree that LCI downgraded disc size. A few cars I have seen, 330d pre-LCIs, have 348mm discs. Mine is a 330d LCI (N57) with 330mm discs.
