Clutch/Flywheel Issue 330D

I had a rattle when depressing the clutch (from about 1/4 travel to 3/4 travel), the rattle isn't there when fully depressed or fully up. Upon researching I presumed this meant it was the either the flywheel or the release bearing and looking deeper into it it looked more likely to be the flywheel as the release bearing shows as a rattle when the clutch is up ie release bearing isn't under pressure (I may be wrong).

I plan to sell the car soon so purchased a second hand clutch and Flywheel with approx 70k miles (mine has 140k miles) and got the lot replaced, but didn't replace release bearing as it looked and felt ok but hard to know, But the rattle is still present and exactly the same, is it just a coincidence that the old and new flywheel were in near identical condition despite the difference in mileage or is the release bearing at fault or something else?

Thanks in advance for any help

I had the same noise, replacement clutch kit and DMF cured it. Was a complete clutch kit.

Thanks for the reply, it's looking like I'll just need to bite the bullet and replace the lot including release bearing with new parts, I might wait a month or two until I go to sell the car and either do it or just knock the price off the car
