X-Drive, modifying

I asked this on BF, got nothing. But I saw a post by a member in the for sale section that got me thinking about it again.

The AWD transmission - can it be modified to only be RWD or almost completely RWD?
Example - An acquaintance has a Nissan Skyline, it's AWD. But if you pull one fuse it disables the power to the front wheels.
Also, cars like the Mitsubishi Evo had a dial for how much power went to the front.

Anything like this for the BMW X-drive system?

No fuse or plug that you can pull without other consequences. But you can remove the front driveshaft.

Or you can do it via software:

It does suck that in certain areas of the country, it's near impossible to find rwd and manual transmissions, much less together. So many of us are stuck with awd autos

I rarely venture into the other subforums so I had no idea this even existed! Very cool.
