I hadn't even looked at it that way. But indeed Hammy might have a lot of fans in Montreal as he has won there a lot....
But if it's true that such thoughts have played behind the scenes, that's a really shitty thing.
I mean, although Montreal is Canada and not the US, it's very close to it. So for a US team like Haas, who is one of the worst funded teams (they used to have Uralkali of course as main sponsor, but after that Haas probably had to fund the bulk themselves. Luckily they now have Moneygram), having good results so close to home is very important (they also had good results in Miami). So putting a Haas car lower on the grid in favour of a Merc car that has unlimited funding (that 135m budgetcap for them is a hassle, but for Haas it's a target) is a very hard blow.

I noticed that during the last couple of races the atmosphere between Verstappen and Hamilton is improving, more cordial. They are talkative in the cool down room and even have laughs. Also no tense atmosphere during podium ceremonies anymore. Of course they know that cameras are filming, but I think that they're genuinely coming to terms - from cold distance to mutual respect to mutual appreciation. Also Verstappen has matured in the meantime: although he's still tough as nails, taking no prisoners, he polished some rough edges.

If my impression is accurate: I like it.

Sure . But the RB19 got a new upgraded front wing in Canada .

Christian Horner admits the focus will quickly shift to the 2024 car => https://www.gpfans.com/en/f1-news/10...-bull-f1-2024/

Yes , your impression is accurate , so it was . BUT !

I heard that a friendly LEW approached MAX with a purpose .
In other words : LEW tried to fish after the RB19 secrets by small talks to MAX.
The good thing is , so far it didn't worked well for LEW

But yeah , It's nice to see ...

Nice try LEW !

but Ferrari having good pace doesn't usually mean anything useful, they have had good pace for years now and hardly wins anything. the faster they are the higher the chances of not winning.

Sticking to the programme and telling SAI to be less aggressive worked wonders for Ferrari at Montreal. As Newey said if they would have had a better quali then they probably would have scored higher.

The first thought in my mind when I saw that. There's usually always an alterior motive behind everything like that with challenging F1 teams, remember Hammy lying down in front of Max with RUS looking on in the cool down room, every trick in the book as you say but probably knowing Hammy it was Wolff who told him to do that as he has to back up his small talk of saying to journos ''we are chipping away and are catching RBR'.

Going on to Ferrari I understand Charlies frustration and in particular his quick outburst ''come on!'' when denied slick softs when he said a dry line had appeared but I'm with Mekies who said no.
The rising damage and repairs suffered by the team from crashes out of nowhere, with Sainz crashing for no particular reason (causing many parts replacements and another chunk out of the budget) apart from simply too fast corner entry for the wet conditions.
Only when strict team orders are introduced Ferrari are getting somewhere and the two drivers must remember they don't run Ferrari.

LEW spied at least 10 min . around MAX' car in Canada .
After the race he said to MAX , It's really amazing to see how the RB19 rear suspension works when you drive close behind it ...

Wolff : We'll come with a big Mercedes upgrade package in Silverstone .
And just before the summer break , we'll do that again .

Is there NO Mercedes budget cap ?
Or are they so cheap ?

There's no reason why they can't use 'pattern parts' which are up to 50% cheaper LOL (kidding)
GuidoK has mentioned this too with the conversion to B-spec side pods and complete new front suspension, the now many parts, wings, diffusers and underbody fins being constantly introduced.
With Hammy being let off obvious misdemeanours like the pit lane infringement and Hulk moved back out of Hammys way with BS penalty as mentioned by KbD, it may be the me-rc a/c is not being checked as rigorously as RBR's '21 was..has that woman crept back to Fia incognito?

Different era with different drivers, different cars and different # of races and tracks, but nevertheless:

Senna (age 34) versus Verstappen (age 25)

As I said and as you can read (*very interesting) => https://www.gpfans.com/nl/f1-nieuws/...ie-te-krijgen/

Atmosphere between LEW and MAX is improving but It's part of the Mercedes Blitzkrieg ..

^ I agree, and let's not kid ourselves about hammys unusual friendly approach to Max, it's for a reason. Wolff though appearing approachable and friendly enough to some journos himself I'm sure is seething behind the scenes at Merc being runner up sometimes or even falling to number 4 when Ferrari start delivering after their big shake up and AM's ALO is clearly matching and beating both Mercs consistently.
Any scrap of info from the RB's secret internal workings is like gold dust to Wolff.

Yes, but these are still minor tweaks. Nothing major yet...but they are delivering tweaks that provide track improvements. I will be interested to see their new floor and what Newey has up his sleeves.
