Thanks, they look fairly complex in terms of DIY.....is that a fact, from those who have replaced them? If I were to set aside some time for first attempt, what would I need to expect...I'll search, as I also recall some chatter about a unique tool being required.

Hmm a shop shouldn't charge you more than $150 labor to do it honestly .. if they are then they are ripping you off. Get the Bosch OEM sensor only from fcpeuro. I had misfires until I replaced mine in that particular bank. Killed my cat converters in the process.

In the end it's all nuts and bolts, so I wouldn't say it's complex. If you're worried about screwing something up by putting the car on jack stands, removing the splash guard, and possibly dropping the front sub frame, plus don't want to spend 5-6 on it because it will be your first time, then you might want to pay someone to do it. I would suggest you not be intimidated, though. If you know righty tighty lefty loosey you can do it. If you don't have a basic wrench, ratchet, and socket set then you'll need to pick some up. The special tool you'll need is an o2 sensor socket. They're pretty cheap.
