Tried to update this because I was missing major roads on my newly purchased used 2011 528i just to find out the dealer already updated it for me and the roads are not in the 2013 maps

Thanks to Dracon for the FSC code but now I have a code that did not get used - can I use this for 2014 maps when it come out?

Figured that was going to be the answer. I would be upset if I paid BMW for the FSC code but since I didn't - its not too bad

If you have the nav maps on the iDrive screen you should have a little window that shows the number of bars for your phone. If you push the iDrive controller down, does the window disappear and reappear if you push the idrive controller down again?

If so, you probably already have the updated CIC firmware. If not, you probably need the CIC firmware updated before you can do the USB update.

Pushing down on the iDrive controller does not make the box disappear - it only pops out the menu on the left (box stays in the upper right).

The dealer knows I am not happy and is supposed to be getting back to me to discuss.

If your car has never been updated by a dealership in 2010+, then most likely not. You'll need a software update from the dealership before you can update via USB.

Do you know if your car has ever been taken to the dealership and any software updated?

You could take your car to your local dealer and ask for the key printout. It should have the I-Level of the car. With that, I could tell you if the car has been updated recently or not.

There's not really a definitive way to check from the vehicle itself, unless you have coding tools available to you to read the I-Level from the car.

Thanks to Dracon for updated maps. I’m new to this and didn’t understand the language of torrents, seeding, extracting, etc. Struggled for a week before my pride let me email Dracon again. Voila! Up and running in no time. Just a few hints for other newbies. All 32GB sticks are not the same. Bought a $42 SanDisk that just wouldn’t work. It kept trying to make an extra directory and had no flashing lights to show it was working. Then bought an $18 Lexar 3.0 USB. It loaded properly without a hitch. When plugging into my car it flashed so I knew something was happening. Also, I had to insert the stick in the glovebox, THEN turn on the car. The stick flashed and it took another 2+ minutes for it to begin updating. Lost count of the times I tried inserting the disk after the car was turned on and nothing happened or I didn’t wait long enough. Looking forward to the 2014 update. Will be doing business with Dracon again.

I just did the 2013-1A map upgrade and cannot say how happy I was with the help from Dracon. I wasn't too clear on the procedure so I asked Dracon and he was nice enough to take the time and lay it out for me. Once I got the USB media with the map update, I requested the code from Dracon, and within ten mins of the request and payment, I had the FSC code. Code worked just fine and map update was done in 40 mins. Absolutely no probs thanks to Dracon.

Thank you very much to Dracon and when the next update comes out, I will be calling again.

Just got the coding cable and INPA and NCS Expert installed. How do you read the I-Level from the car?

You can check your i-level with Tool32.

Load E89x.prg et and execute JOB: I_STUFE_LESEN

Post a screenshot of the resulting window. Be careful not to play around with any other settings, just execute I_STUFE_LESEN

I've seen that posted but I have not seen anything on BMW's dealer's website referencing this map release.

BMW also just sent out notice not even two weeks ago for their Summer Navigation Promotion and they only list 2013-1A as the current maps.

I think 2013-2 is a false flag and isn't truly released. The US typically gets a single DVD/USB release a year. Europe typically gets a -1 and a -2 release.

My dealer finally figured out how to configure the software update and get my glove box USB working. Got a code from Dracon and uploaded the new maps successfully. I would recommend him to anyone else looking to do this update as he has been very helpful and the price was fair.

Thanks to everyone else for your help and suggestions. Now it's time to see how many things have been fixed over the last four years on the maps!

Hey guys..quick question. I was able to update maps to the latest version using the thread posted software on usb and code from Sergei. i have one issue so far, when i go to Map options, two choices are completely greyed out, Satellite Images and Perspective View in 3D. Are these location based options? meaning they are only available in an area where there are buildings, maybe?

I didn't want to take any chances so I ordered the USB from tischerbmw. I already have the code got it somewhere else. Spent about $100 for everything. I just wanted to make sure I got all the necessary files that's why I bought the USB.

had an hour drive this morning so i thought i would try it. no luck.

currently using pny fat32 32gig w/correct files.

i'll pick up a scandisk tonight and report back tomorrow.
