First ticket few questions
Hey guys,
so the other night i was pulled over on a back road in hopewell NJ. the cop got me before my V1 went of, it was as if he turned on his detector on as soon as he saw me. any ways apparently i was going 68 in a 50. my question is how much will i probably have to pay and how many points am i looking at. is it worth going to court to try and drop some point? |

above 11mph, could be looking at some points and 250+ fine. fight it, google beat your speeding ticket, all sorts of literature you can find to help you in court.

Plead not guilty and go to court.Hopefully the cop will talk to you and reduce it to a non moving violation with a fine and court fees.

go to court and speak to the prosecuter.... they'll likely plea down to careless driving fine + surcharge (about $450) but no points!!! Good luck...

If you did not get a speeding ticket in the last 5 years then you are in the clear. Just go to court tell them this is your first speeding offense and ask to speak to the prosecutor. In fact 99% of the time the judge will tell you how to plead if this is your first ticket or you did not have a moving violation in the last 5 years. What will happen is that you will admit to the charge and the judge will drop the points for a higher fine; basically he will reduce the ticket to something else and then rape your wallet a bit.

I never got a ticket before and finally got one a few years back. I went to court and fought it but the insurance company still raised my rates. Something about careless driving raises a red flag for them.

It's pretty obnoxious when I'd been driving at the time for 18 years, had not a single moving violation, married, kids, etc. and they still jacked up my rate. Needless to say, I switched insurance companies after they did that. |
