Can we expand this thread to cover some of the more specialist jobs like suspension, turbos, tires, detailing...... great to have all this info in one place
Great thread BTW Suspension specialists In Melb - Advanced suspension in Moorabbin is well respected |

I think we can group suspension and turbos into this thread but identify the workshops listed as specialists in suspension, turbos etc to seperate the 'just general servicing' recommendations that people have. Tyres and detailling can be two seperate categories. |

I would stay as far away from them as possible. Bought a Polo that had some gauges installed by them. They cut the firewall (yes cut, not poke through a gromet or drill a hole then insert a gromet, just cut with an angle grinder or something) to feed wires through, all gauges were wired incorrectly and was a nightmare to rectify. They also charged my mate a new DP for his S3 because they had to use a dead-blow hammer to remove the old one (full V-Bands at the turbine exit and next join). No hammering needed what so ever. They smashed the crap out of the exhaust and the welds tore apart at the mount. Obviously were too lazy to remove the support hanger bracket (all of 5 mins). Had another friend have them change his valve cover gaskets on his S4, they didn't even change the left bank and charged him $700. Then when the left one was still leaking they charged him another $700 to do them both again (may as well while you're in there is the story they pulled). |

i dont like southern bm. the guy i spoke to was very rude.
So i only just got my beamer for a few months and wanted the lci tail lights and been looking everywhere for decent pricing. i called up southern bm for a quote on how much for supply and install and was quoted about $2200 at the time. WAY out of what i was expecting to pay but i was not surprised. then i asked if i find a second hand set and install it myself, could they possibly code away the error code. I simply got "Not interested". Not even a "sorry mate, its not something that we do". I find it quite rude and disrespectful. at the end of the day i was willing to pay up to $300 for install and coding and was a prospect customer. I always recommend workshop where i experience good customer service. anyway a few months down the track i ended up importing a brand new set from denmark for $600, installed it myself and the boys at ACTIV coded it for $50. #endrant Last edited by naynay; 04-01-2015 at 06:39 PM.. |

Does anybody know any BMW/Euro specific wreckers for WA (or any part of Aus)?
Want to track down a ABS/DSC control module + pump (brand new was quoted over $4k locally ). Things were much simpler when I needed spare parts for the skyline, KYP has bucket loads of every random Nissan Skyline parts I could see in the dozens. Finding any 2nd hand parts locally in Perth for this car so far is proving to be a nightmare...

Spoke to Souttern BM once about modding my car their suggestion was a throttle booster lol. Arrogant so I never went back. Active Motorwerkes in Burwood were the complete opposite, helpful, friendly and always customer focused. So far I'm averaging about a 1000 a month with Active in mods and servicing. Being rude and elitist hmmm do the math

Ben is awesome at getting whatever you wanted from Japan if you could wait for his next container to come in... and at reasonable prices as well!

+1 Southern BM are bloody ripped off, their hourly rates are similar to your local BMW dealers!

+1 every quote i've gotten from southernBM has been 1.5 times the amount quoted elsewhere. Worse of all (and this might just me), they seem very arrogant over the phone....

The best i have found so far in Brisbane is: Brisbane Motor Works, 16 Cambridge St Coorparoo. Owners name is Lance and is a chilled bloke.
He has fitted my Lsd and done a couple of my flash tunes (as im to scared to mess it up lol). He's done Rb's and many meth kit install's so knows his way around a 335i.
