So I’ve been scouring forums trying to find an answer for my problem. I have P0420 P0430 catalyst efficiency below threshold codes. I am in need of a smog check soon. Would a dp fix help me here? Have been told by the mechanic that I need new cats.

Me too but my plan is to flash it back to stock drive around (drive cycle). I have to put the stock Charge Pipe and Air Box on correct? Can I leave the upgraded FMIC in there? Exhaust is totally stock.

Yeah.. most likely they wont care about the FMIC.. only what's directly underneath the hood and exhaust related things like cats and mufflers.. I ended up flashing back to stock, put my stock charge pipe w/ DV's back on, along with the stock airbox.. only things I left were my VRSF 7in. fmic and catless DP's with a DP fix hooked up to the DME.. Took it to a Star Smog center n the guy said everything was good except for when he revved my car, he could tell the exhaust wasn't stock so he looked under n told me to put the stock cats back on.. SOOooo I had to put my stock DP's back on n took it back the next day.. same guy there, retested, everything A-OK and passed..

TLDR - In order to pass visual inspection, u gotta have everything under the hood STOCK - aannd depending on where u go, they may or may not trip about the fmic and/or DP's.. you'll most likely be fine with FMIC but DP's r a different story.. I pretty much wasted my money on the DP fix cuz in the end I had to put practically all my stock parts back on anyway! Aaahhh FML..

Thanks. I just flashed it back to stock and OMG does it feel slow. After running 17 psi for over a year and now it shows 7.5 psi max. I need to get this thing smogged fast so I dont go through withdrawals.

So I went for a drive cycle and it looks like that did the trick. After researching that it looks pretty simple and it was., except for the fact that your going so much slower than everyone else even big trucks its a bit scary slow like your going to get rear ended on the frwy. I just went out early this morning (Saturday). Started it cold and let it idle for about 3 min then drove about 3 mi to the freeway. I just drove like an old lady 20-40 mph barely on the gas. Got to the 405 parking lot and it was flowing well so I just put it in cruise control at 58-59 mph and went about 10mi down the road. Got off drove over the bridge and got back on for 10 mi back toward home. Then drove around for 5 to 10 min accelerating mildly up to 40mph or so. stopped and now CAT and O2 status are ready. I still have to put the stock CP and air box on but thats not bad.

Need smog help in NorCal - local to Sac and the Bay Area but okay to drive wherever. Have a black silicone inlet that is causing the visual to fail. Thinking of reverting it back to stock. Other than that stock everything visually.

Hot smogs are pricey in NorCal. I've paid between 300-400. But all they need is a picture of the registration.
