I figure the cosmetic issues give me some negotiation power, and gives me an excuse to upgrade front and rear bumper. I found an M3 rep bumper and M sport rear bumper both primed for paint for $750 altogether. Had a very reputable shop near me quote me $1500 to paint both bumpers plus the hood. That sets me back $2,250. I haven't got any more quotes, but I don't want to be cheap either.

that car doesn't look cared for at all. "530whp", but it's completely falling apart.. I'd pass, or negotiate down - no way I'd pay $9k for that heap.

I'd have to agree with you. But the question is how much is it worth?

Offer $6500. If he wont budge, then walk away. No one who cares for their car would let it get to that point.

IMO that's way too much. it needs like $3000 in paint alone.

I'm not against buying a 2007 335i with high miles as a project, but when you look at this car you have to seriously doubt the claims of power and mods. And that's just what you can see on the surface - what does it look like internally? how much hacked together shit is there hidden under plastic covers and electrical tape?

There's been a few times when I've been car shopping, and as soon as I saw the car's condition, I knew immediately if I wanted it or not (my 330i was one such car, I literally only drove it around the block and bought it on the spot). Basically, you can tell if the car is super clean, inside and out - the engine bay is clean, there's not dirty air filters sucking in hot air, the body isn't trashed.. that somebody cared for the car. 5 years later and it's been the best car I've ever owned.

And then you have this car which is literally the polar opposite. It reminds me of a WRX a buddy wanted to buy, that had obviously been in a serious wreck, and not repaired well at all - even though the dealer insisted it hadn't because the carfax was clean.. Then he took us on a test drive while beating the shit out of it. Hard pass.

I think you'd be way better off getting a cleaner, closer to stock 335i and going from there. Not only does this look horrible, but I guarantee the current owner beat the fuck out of it. They couldn't even be bothered to wash the thing before the put it up for sale..

I'd roll the dice. Like others said, part it out if it doesn't pan out.
Edit: I didn't see the pics and such at 1st.. Ya I'd pass.. like the guy above me said, he couldn't even clean it up 1st, goes to show how it got treated.

Yeah, I decided against getting it. I guess no one has a montego blue six speed for sale in the country that they aren't asking over twice its value or have treated like shit lol.

I have the gray interior...I think it’s fine. Biggest issue is the seat bolsters show dirt...

I have two, 2008 and 2010 non I-drive that I retrofitted to have I-drive. I like it so much. Added CarPlay too.

Congrats on a beautiful car. Also yes, I think you'll learn to love the iDriveless e90. The radio has a ton of functionality for what it is, and the clean dash line is really nice from the driver perspective. Also a big fan of the "MUSIC" L7 mode.

Glad you walked away . I'm a Montero Blue fan. I got one but it's a 6At car. Was looking for a 6MT but they all were ragged. Most of the 'affordable' 6MT cars I found [DC/Md/Va] were 07s and ragged ..

If you had got the blue one and then found the gray one you'd be kicking yourself. Now you can mod the car with precision.

Good luck.

The new car looks great. Glad you listened to reason - there's just way too many of these cars to waste time with a jalopy - although, I admit I really liked the blue.
