Things you didnt know about your 3 series.

I learned a lot from this topic on the M3 forum.. Anyways just post a fun fact about the car.

The reset button on the A/C when pressed after the car is off will use residual heat from the engine to keep the car warm. It really helps out in the winter when you have to make a 20-30 min stop inside a place.

Im sure it has been on this forum in the past, but I just discovered by trial and error that with cruise control on, you can push the clutch in----engine rpms lower, and then you can shift back into gear....and cruise resumes...

The 04 acura tl I had would cancel cruise when the clutch was pushed in.

I like it!

That 'Res' button is not the Reset button, it's the Residual Heat button.

This is in the owners manual.

Yeah because while its at the factory it isnt made yet. They can simply put the wires in, and presto its done. At the dealership they have to take off pannels, and then put everything back together. It makes perfect sense that it cost more at the dealer

That's what the guy said... just like he didn't read the button right, you didn't read his post right... let me restate for him: "when pressed after the car is off will use residual heat from the engine to keep the car warm."

RESIDUAL HEAT. he said it.

$595 as a factory option. $900 or more at the dealerships I've called. I don't mind paying a little extra for my ignorance but this seems a little steep for something that should be pretty much plug & play.

I love you guys...

I learn new stuff everyday.

The res button would have been nice today if i known it existed when I was at the track in +37f weather.

How about this:

Get inside the car, close the doors and push the lock button on your key fob. All doors will be locked. Now bring the fob close to the key slot and the doors will unlock.

What panels do you have to remove? You pick up the trunk floor, screw in the box, plug it in then reprogram the car afaik.

Press the fold button (to fold) of your side mirrors before driving. At the speed of 25MPH it resets back to open position.

When you've turned your wipers on and then stop the vehicle in traffic, the wipers stop as well.

You can't unlatch the trunk/boot with the second key while the engine is running.
