Hello again, updated my dde/dme. Now i need to calibrate zero-gear position because i get a stop/start error. Tried doing it with DIS but then it wont move forward from the instructions in the picture below.

Tried being in the car and outside, with or without seat belt.

Do i need to code the dde after update?

Read this in a forum thread about INPA can do it, but i do not have those options in INPA.

Thanks troubleshooter, I seem to have cleared the error via INPA.

I got the same error as slowhand73 using DIS so tried INPA. Also had the same trouble that INPA is in German beyond the front menu so used Google Translate while going through. Helps that I have a 3G broadband dongle from work for the laptop.

This is the solution so hopefully it will help others:

Using INPA 5.0.6 (from standard tools 2.11) I had to edit the E87.ENG file to add an option for the DDE7. I then downloaded the .INI and .IPO files from the "INPA add N47 to E87" thread on this board.

Ran INPA, selected E87 and then Engine then DDE7.

I picked option F6 Austeuren (Drive) and then option F4 MSA followed by F1 Nullgang lernen ( neutral learn)

You need to put the car in neutral, start the engine, release the clutch and not have anyone in the car according to the instructions.

Press F1 to learn the zero gear position. Mine is bordering on 45. It needs to be between 45 and 55. The screen shows a graph of the reading

Once it has learnt the position it will pop up a window saying "Nullgangstellung gelernt" (Learned starting position 0)

The error has gone but can't confirm that the auto stop/start works yet.

Now what can I break next :-)

Found a INPA archive with the MSA stuff in it finally. So learned zero-gear with INPA. If anyone need link pm. Fault codes gone.

How did you get this cleared. I have the error on my e90 as well but can't figure out how to reset this warning.

Any help or guide would be really appreciated

Sorry for thread resurrection but in-case anyone else comes across this, my INPA DDE7 menu was in English and was missing option F6 Austeuren (Drive) and F4 MSA

Thanks to this thread and the german n47 INPA ipo from here http://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=45966 its now solved.

For Neutral configuration (Nullgang lernen) just use ToolSet32 as part of Ediabas. It is part of the DME/DDE coding.
So open INPA, get it connected as you do, and read your module list (F2 - Identification). Under the column SGBD, make a note of your code relating to DME/DDE - mine was D72N47B0.
Close INPA, and open Ediabas ToolSet 32 (shortcut on my menu just says Tool 32).
Once open, loas SGBD group (top left). Navigate to the file name you found in INPA - again, in my case I would load d72n47b0.prg.
Once this loads, you get a list of jobs showing in window 'Select Job: D72N47B0'.
Scroll down through the menu to 'Nullgang Lernen'. Make sure the car is in neutral, double click on 'Nullgang Lernen', and hopefully it's say 'Job complete' in the Results window. And you're done.

Forgive me as i am a complete amateur!! I need to re calibrate my neutral sensor, i have a e82 120d. Can anyone help with links to the relevant software/cable i would need to do this myself? Or does anyone know a rough cost for a specialist garage to do this for me?
