I assumed performance would be the same. I guess the more specific question is if one material lasts longer than the other. If I can get another 10-20k miles by going with material X vs Y then it's worth the consideration.

They are wear items. It's like changing the oil. Replace the vacuum lines to maintain the good performance and function of your vehicle.
And when I said 60k, I meant miles. So you're right at the perfect time to replace. |

Guys..have you changed all the vacuum hoses using just 10 feet ( 3 meters ) ? Also was it enough to also change the engine mounts vacuum lines or did you all just do the turbo actuators vaccum lines and egr?

I have 173k miles on my 335d with no vacuum line leaks. I wouldn't touch one if it isn't leaking. I don't know of any that would cause a walk home condition if a leak appears.

I partially disagree. Replacing the vacuum lines, in my opinion, is considered preventative maintenance. Sure, one could wait until they fail and fix them at that time but breakdowns dont always happen at convenient times. Replacing them now minimizes the chances of a vacuum line failing down the road and allow you to fix it on your own terms when you have the time.

Looks like some would benefit and others wouldn't from this proactive work. If people do change them then please use an OE spec hose. Their spec guarantees a burst pressure after 150k miles of thermal aging, chemical exposure, abrasion... Aftermarket hoses have a tendency to publish their best results for new product. There is a solid chance it won't last any longer than what you are replacing. I would write more but I need to go change my first smoked harmonic balancer.
