Ideas for reparing a gash in leather steering wheel?

So I recently found a used sport wheel with paddle shifters, but a slip of a ratchet while loosening the 16mm bolt left me with a couple ugly gouges in the leather. Sad because the rest of the wheel is in top shape.

I've included photos - does anyone has any recommendations for how to repair it? I've searched youtube but haven't really found any suitable repairs for this type of leather on a steering wheel.

EDIT: Forgot to add that it's a heated wheel.

Heated steering wheel is no problem. I have a heated one and I wrapped it myself. But I took off the wrap because I didn't do it properly.
If you can or find someone who can wrap it properly; then go for it.

The added thickness to the steering wheel plus the perforation on it is nice.

(Lol I didn't see the other link also went to this same thread)

It's really not that bad. Mine looks brand new now but looked horribly used before. I'm usually one to be really knit picky about how something as high contact as the steering wheel feels, but honestly unless you want to spend as much as it would cost to literally replace the leather itself on the wheel, this is the next best thing.

And yeah a small leather cover isn't going to hold in any heat. You'll feel it like normal.
