Yes it's straight forward. After removing screws with with a t15 torx screwdriver, the board pops out. I ran a heat gun over the board for a few minutes, constantly keeping the gun in motion set on low setting, 750 F.
Then let cool for 20 minutes before re assembling. |

Hi.
First post on here with the same Bluetooth module failure on a 2007 E91 320D MSport. Tried a used unit from eBay but either it's faulty or it needs coding as the inde garage I use can't get it going even though they have diagnostic gear. Looks like a trip to BMW to see if it can be repaired as it came on for a few seconds at the inde garage when they re-hooked it back up. Frustrating stuff. Had a quote to replace by BMW and it was over £700! Don't fancy that at all. |

Oven method failed after about a week......I performed the oven method again and it worked for another week or so. Does not seem like a permanent fix.....
It's in the oven again as I type......Anyone have a good cookie recipe ? I'm beginning to feel like a pastry chef.......... |

if the oven method is effctively melting the solder and reflowing it, then you've maybe got a dry joint. give it to someone with a decent soldering iron and a magnifying glass and see if they can find the joint thats missing solder.

A decent electrician will get his multimeter out and be able to spot the dry joints in seconds. A few seconds with a soldering gun and you'll be fine A side note: I had exactly the same thing with my CH boiler, Company wanted £200 for a new board. A friend noticed the dry solder joint, ten seconds with a soldering gun, and all was well with the world Paul |

the -- basically indicates that the MULF module isnt responding.
The older MULF1's seem to have a tendancy to die, so i swapped mine out for a MULF2 instead. Was quite easy to do, i did a write up if you have a search. |

I found your thread - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1126467
Could you not also just swap the HU to the LCI one with Bluetooth/USB built in to it? Or have I misunderstood something? |

A Late model bluetooth headunit is £300ish. The MULF2 was £125. Car was already wired for the MULF and thus was effectively a plug and play swap, whereas the later headunit would have required rewiring the mic and bluetooth antenna to the headunit instead. So to me it seemed the replacement MULF was the best option. |
