I have a 2009 328i and whenever I'm not in motion my cars RPMS move and cause the car to somewhat shake. It usually only happens when the car isn't moving. Also I've scanned the car and there's no codes, the engine light is from a past problem. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Also I linked the video showing what it does.

I had the same problem before and when I replaced my valve cover gasket in the BMW service shop they replaced electric shaft sensor because it was defective and after that issue went away. But I didn't have any codes, in your case you have engine light on so I would pull the codes first and go from there

Rough idle with check engine could do to ignition coil. Pulling codes would help isolate issue

The SES is NOT lit due to a "past problem," at least if the code was cleared. 1) Please get ALL DME Fault Codes read & report them here (P-code or BMW FC numbers); 2) Please describe what the "past problem" was/is, and what was done to correct it. George |

Of course I can't say for sure that's your problem, but it appears to be MORE than a coincidence, particularly if the SES & code showed up about the time the shaking at idle began. If you have to pass an Annual Emissions Test, you need to get the tank leak (or purge hose leak) fixed anyway. See if that fixes the shaking at idle. Also, have you had the Breather Heater Recall performed? That also may damage a 12-year-old "Vent Hose", and any leak there can cause similar symptoms. George |

Hello,
I have the same issue, replaced my engine coils and spark plugs two weeks ago (225KM/2009 e90) and the shaking is completely gone. That may be it if you haven't changed yours in a while. + I had no codes |
