Overall loudness I'm not sure if it's louder rather than just having a different tone now.

For the burples/pops it is definitely louder and I adore it. Overall pretty happy.
Good shit, I've got mine going in this week!

You can find videos of straight pipe N54s online, yours would sound similar. You have any videos of your exhaust now that you can share?

I did do a before and after video but honestly it's difficult to hear the difference on video why I didn't post. But here they are! Tried to rev equally for both and do the same thing and pops at the end. I think I would need to do fly blys instead.

Sounds much better! Doesn't even sound louder, but that's tough to tell from the videos.

You can hear the 335is 5k RPM noise in the first vid, it's definitely gone in second vid but it sounds like there's still some of that high pitch metallic noise present though.

Yeah.

And yeah! When driving as well the harsh rasp is very noticeable that it's not there. The high pitch noise I just think it's the natural high rev of it and nothing really to do but it's not to bad.

Thanks man. Just dropping $4k on fixing a hit-and-run where someone smashed my headlight, front bumper, hood etc...

After that, making some other small cosmetic fixes: color matching front reflectors, fixing curbed rims.

Next, installing front and rear dash cam for security.

From there, moving into more fun mods, maybe a Dinan P2 Power Package.

Read up on MHD if you haven't. Dinan is good but you can get a lot more from bolt ons and a custom tune.

I don't know what MHD is so I'll have to look that up - I appreciate the suggestion!

Don't both with Dinan unless your car is still under a BMW warranty. You can get a more power for less money elsewhere, without sacrificing reliability. MHD is the way to go nowadays, smooth power delivery all the way through the powerband. Once you go stage 1, you'll want to start adding the rest of the bolt on mods to get you up to stage 2/stage 2+. These cars a lot more fun when you wake up the beast in them!

Stay ahead of your maintenance items and you shouldn't have any issues with reliability, even with the increase in boost.

Thanks man, good point about Dinan, I guess the main benefit of them is the warranty, but that doesn't apply to me.

For MHD, stage 1, any bolt-ons needed to support that?

I wonder what the hp/torque numbers look like on stage 1

I don't know for sure but I think you can get about 50 HP out of just the tune with no mods.
The FBO mods are pretty inexpensive and easy-ish to install.
DCI is $100
Down pipes are about $300
Charge Pipe is around $150 This is a must! If you have the stock plastic pipe, it will blow, for sure, without a doubt. Change it.
FMIC can range from $300 to $1200
and BOV I think is about $250
That can net you about 100 to 150 at the wheels. My numbers my be a little off but you get the idea.

SoFloBMW Reaffirming the chargepipe! This should be done before you tune, the stock one is plastic and is a common fail point. Besides chargepipe, I think stage 1 only requires an intake, also cheap.

You don't need a BOV for stage 1 or 2, since the boost is set to max at only 18psi and the stock diverter valves are fine up to 20-22psi. But if you want the BOV sound then yeah go for it!

Keep in mind that running a tuned N54 will burn out spark plugs and coilpacks much quicker, it's generally recommended to replace spark plugs and coilpacks prior to tuning. You can buy these items at FCP Euro with a lifetime warranty, I think these total to about $250-$280 on their site. This isn't something you need to do before tuning, but it will only be a matter of time before you start seeing some misfires, in which case you would want to replace all of these.

I also recommend walnut blasting your intake valves, but it may not be required depending on their current state. How many miles do you have on the car and do you know if this service has ever been performed?

Thanks for the info NoGuru and b92.

I've actually already got a Cobb Chargepipe after I went through 2 plastic ones. Even stock these things crack so easily!

I do want to get an intake. What brand do you guys recommend.

I just looked up walnut blasting. Looks like something I'd have to hire someone to do for sure. My car has 63k miles on it. Think it needs that yet?
