'13 C63 Detailed
Took advantage of some rare warm December weather and had my C63 detailed.
These pics are placeholders, more or less, until the rain abates. Before: After: I was working in close quarters indoors with a few of these. Better, non-iPhone outdoor pics to come. Thanks to Mike of Driven Auto Detail.

You tease. We need some better pics. I've admittedly never been a huge fan of the C63, but I definitely respect them as a very nice car. They are starting to grow on me...

I barely had time for the ones I posted. Got in a few before this monster hit a few days ago. I'm somewhere in the general vicinity of the X. Hard to tell as my entire State is swathed by downpours.

Thank you very much for the kind words my friend.
Now that the rain has stopped, I'm going to try to get some better photos taken today.

Nice! I just picked mine up earlier this month & just did a secondary cat delete on it the past weekend. If you're looking for a louder exhaust note while keeping the characteristic AMG growl, definitely look into that. Took me a few tries experimenting with different combos to find the right tone. Looks like you have the Eurocharged tune already, very nice!!

And many thanks for the tip regarding the secondary cat delete. Do you have a video or sound clip of what it sounds like? I'm sure I can dig up a few on YouTube but was just curious if you had some sound files as well. I've been toying with the idea of an aftermarket exhaust but it's mighty hard to justify when they did such a great job tuning the AMG Sport Exhaust at the factory. And the Eurocharged tune is incredible. I love having the ability to download the tune myself with the MyGenius tool (although it acts a little quirky at times). Are you running or planning on running a tune?

I never had a chance to take proper pictures after the detail.
The weather has just been relentlessly terrible. Nevertheless, here are some "dirty" pics: Couple of iPhone shots captured quickly in sub-zero temperatures.

The E550 is great! Thanks for asking. The steering is noticeably lighter than the C63's (which is refreshingly heavy but consistent across the board) but it's still phenomenal. There's really no slop in the steering at all. It is very accurate and communicative, although it's more buttery soft with its preciseness as compared to the C63.
Once you set the E550's throttle sensitivity and shift program to S, it really becomes a sharper car with brutally effective power delivery. The turbos spool up quickly and once that happens, you get hit with a surge of torque. When using the paddle shifters, the upshifts are slower than those on the MCT-equipped C63 but the downshifts seem to come when you want them to. The active side bolsters that inflate instantaneously to hug you during turns are awesome. The thigh bolsters seem flat as compared the the much taller, beefier ones that are in the C63. I can slide right into the seat instead of doing my race car entry procedure, which is a required exercise for clearing the the thigh bolster in the C63. People probably think I'm crazy when I'm getting into the C63 in public. Being able to change the ambient lighting (brightness and colors) throughout the E550 cabin is a nice touch too, especially at night.

I hate winter, one drive and it's back to square one...not to mention it's so cold you can't ONR without the water freezing as you try to dry the panel lol.
BTW - your car looks pretty much clean in the "dirty shots" Silver is absolutely the color to go with in the snow belt... |

I completely agree. This is replacing the gloss black lip as soon as it warms up:
Steps 2 and 3 will be a CF diffuser and a CF rear spoiler. Quote:
I also use ONR. What a great product. I have to dress like an Eskimo even when I wash and seal the car in the garage. I don't know if you have had a chance to use it yet but I thought I'd mention that the new formula metal polish is amazing. I used to wipe off my exhaust tips frequently to avoid soot accumulation but the new metal polish is so good that any carbon buildup is eliminated with one pass of the ONR polish on a terry cloth towel. And thanks for the kind words! I've tried a nice metallic black before but it was a nightmare to keep looking new. Metallic silver has served me very well in my region of the country.

Thanks for that, was just about to order the metal polish as I finally used up my old Wenol stuff and need something new.
I'm a big fan of ONR and Opti Clean. I have a tube of Opti Coat 2.0 sitting in a drawer, but have yet to try it out. I had a C63 coupe behind me for a while last night, certainly made the soundtrack of my DD Mazda 3 sound a lot better. I still prefer the sedans and yours looks darn near perfect, but the coupes have grown on me recently. |

And I also am a big fan of ONR and Opti-Clean. The gentleman that details and polishes my car introduced me to all of the Optimum products a while ago. Ever since I've started using them, we've both noticed that my paint rarely needs any correction work done now (good for me but bad for him, I suppose ). Although I still order all of my stuff in bulk from him, to show my gratitude. And thank you very much for the compliment. I have really enjoyed the C63 thus far. What has been amazing to me is how well the car has handled the winter we've had. Despite record snowfall totals, I've gotten everywhere I've needed to be. I think going as narrow as possible with the Blizzaks (and using a square setup) really made the difference.
