Changing auto trans fluid
My trans has just about 70k on it and I bought it used about 10k ago and want to change the fluid....is the a DIY
Should I use OEM or one made for cars with high torque. I plan on being close to 600 tq soon. Any suggestion on fluiD and weight to use? Change the pan and gasket too I'm assuming? I have only changed fluid in a tranny once and that was in a Honda lol. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. And so I don't need to make another thread. How about flushing my cooling system. Just drain and fill? Or is there a device I need to buy to *flush* the system? Is it a good idea to add water wetter Or does that not really benefit for coolong? Thanks guys!

On our cars, we can only do a partial coolant change unless you drop the FMCI on AT at least.
As for Trany Oil..... changed it with OeM. You are FBO, so not sure if anything better out there for you. And yes, change the trany pan...new should come with gasket also. And a pointer...... I went to a cheap mechanic to use his hoist. And change the mechatronic sleeve. DN |

Lots of threads on this, do some searching. I'm not an expert on all years of the 335 but I believe its a varient of the ZF 6 speed, which I know I have in my 2011 and 2014 cars.
BMW specs 100K M as 'lifetime', ZF specks 80-120K KM, so up to about 75K M. A drain and fill takes about 6-7qt, and has a lower pan to replace (filter is part of the pan). cts out of California sells a kit for all ZF cars that include the OEM Long Life Fluid at a better price you will find at the dealer. I plan on getting the kit and having a dealer or indy do the change which should take 1-.5- 2hr to do including resetting the auto adaptation. For older cars the mech sleeve may be something to change while you are in there if you have an older design I have read in other threads. - b |

At the risk of sounding ignorant - Ctsc? Who is that and can you provide a link?
