How can I make the xi a better daily driver?

Hi All,

New to the E90 world as I recently purchased a 2008 335xi with about 180KM on it. Everything on the car is stock and it's a manual. I use it as a second family car.

I have two questions.

1) what sort of maintenance should I be looking into doing right now? I am not sure what the previous owner has done.

2) How can I improve it a smooth daily driver?
Could it be a short shifter, new suspension, bushing, etc..?

That is excessive... just check for play and change the required parts; but in theory, he's right. Especially fluids: change and reset transfer case, both differentials, engine , transmission, steering and flush coolant.

It depends on what has been done already though. I bought mine with new shocks and suspension rebuilt already, so all I did was lowering springs.

Good luck

Change the belt and pullies as well; especially if they are original.

Check for leaks. The 3 main culprits will be the oil filter housing gasket, valve cover gasket, and the oil pan gasket. If the OFHG has a leak then change it ASAP because it can cause the belt to slip off and get pulled into the motor.

Suspension components; have a good indy shop inspect them first. No need to change them out if they are g2g.
