sludge problem

does any one know if a moderate sludge problem can be solved with out open the engine and clean it with acids???

In the U.S. there are various engine cleaners which you dump into the oil sump , run the car at idle for 10-15 minutes, and then change the oil. In the old days people would do this using diesel fuel to their oil which did the same thing.

Today I've seen people recommend running shorter oil change intervals using a high quality synthetic (5,000 km?). Penzoil Ultra supposedly has good sludge cleaning abilities.

Go visit the VW/Audi forums. Search 1.8T and "sludge".

There is hope if you have not lost oil pressure.
