What are e90 owner's thoughts on the f30?
It did not feel like an upgrade to me, generally I am a newer is better consumer, but I was underwhelmed. The car felt big, steering was not great, and it felt a little disconnected. I actually bought out my lease on my e90, still deciding on what to do after winter, do ED on an f30, or keep the e90 until sometHing new comes out, like the M2. Am I the only one that has this opinion?

Haven't driven one, but this picture made me fall in love.

This one looks ok too.
Beside the look, I am sad that the F30 is less good than the E90 dynamically (I love my heavy steering feel and how the car just dances) and that the stupid fashion about 4-cyl. turbo won in the base models while the Asians give BMW a lesson in efficiency. |

I like the look, other than the goofy gaps next to the grille and the straight line hood openning. A useful amount bigger, but I don't care for the mandatory tacked on display screen. Also not a fan of the colors/options bundling. Hopefully the LCI will take care of much of the issues, and they smarten up about not offering a manual in the wagon.

I think BMW failed on the front end of the f30, it looks out of place compared to the rest of the car. The vague steering feel was enough for me to pass on it.

That start/stop is just horrible. I know it can be disabled, but when it's on and you go to take off from a stop light you looks like "WtF, his New BMW just stalled on him?"
That 8-speed transmission makes the 335i more fun to drive than the 6speed. Just hearing the engine go through more is thrilling.

+1 I find it looks very much like a catfish, it even has whiskers like one. Furthermore, I find the Msport pretty sad as well. Sure it is more aggressive, but the rear diffuser is weak sauce compared to the E9x. However, I think that the F30 in Msport + Performance trim is pretty effing sexy (see blue pic above^^) but again, the rear is still weak looking. Very weak. |

Drove one a month ago. Thought the seats were not as comfortable as they are in my e90, the steering was not even close to the awesome feedback e9x's have, it looks more like a 5 and little too big, and im pretty sure they did not put in LED turn signals...

I think what the BMW design team has done w/ the focused angel eyes and kidneys is really clever. I also think the sharky front end is very sporty looking especially in profile. I think the body of the car is actually very similar to the E90 and I was a bit disappointed that there weren't more significant changes made to the flare styling of the E90. Don't get me wrong, I love the flare/E90, but I was just looking for a more significant transition. When you look at the transitions made through the history of the 3 Series E30>E36>E46>E90 all of these cars made big steps, body-styling-wise. The F30 makes an incremental change in design.
Until I drive an F30, I won't truly know how I feel about the driving experience, but from what I've read, it seems like the experience has been watered down a bit. Don't like what they've done to the steering. The engine specs don't excite me. I guess I'll wait for the coupe/convertable/m3/4 to come out to see if my feelings change. Right now, if I had to upgrade, I'd get a 335 E92. |

I have a loaner F30 328i right now and I hate it... I posted a quick review on it. To me, it's not even a real BMW anymore.
Go test drive one for yourself and you'll see what I mean.

The front/headlights are ugly. Interior feels a little on the cheap side. The ride is too soft for me, and the car feels too big. I thought BMW's are known for their heavy, tight feel. This car lacks that. The steering feels way too loose. That 4 cylinder is noisy, However has some pep. I am kind of glad that I don't like the F30. My car is paid off, and it feels good not having a car payment.

They are growing on me, but I see no real reason to update this generation. I'm guessing that I'll keep my E90 330i until the F30 successor comes out. It's been solid and I'm hoping to get another 4-5 years out of it - we'll see...
I am interested in the M3/M4 when it comes out though...

More than ever, the F30 335i has more arguments going for it compared to a 328i and the big diffferences spells f-u-n. Some will says that it is was the same with the E90 but I disagree. I don't think that the F30 is all bad. After all, it took me a while as an E46 owner just to seriously look at the E90. |
