I do not know for sure about the fade, but it would be to BMWs advantage if it did. Prolonging the life of the pump by letting it operate at lower levels to keep iot running longer, until hopefully after warranty. Deja Vu?
After I stated to my dealer I was getting long starts and of course lag the BMW engineers suggested to solve my lag problem was to replace the HPFP. Well low and behold, these engineers must have graduated from the culinary, my long starts were gone but the lag was still there. I was updated from 29.2 to 30.02. I'm pretty sure it was because of the HPFP I needed to get the upgrade on software.

with regards to your lag: feel any difference with the 30.02 versus 29.2 ??
also, which ecu do you have?

thanks

Wasnt sure RB, my bad. Another thread has people raving about how the fuel pump replacement made a tremendous difference. Just wondering RB did you get the remanufactured(remanuFRACTURED) pump or the new part number pump?
Mine is about to go so I guess i will have that new fun too. It looks like it could tie just about the same time that the new prog is out, that would be convenient.

Q, I got the new pump not the remanuFRACTURED pump. I somewhat have a unusual circumstance as I have a 5/08 build with an msd80. There was absolutely no difference between v29.2 and 30.02 before and after the HPFP replacement. The car felt exactly the same, lag lag lag. The car I test drove was not even close. The car I test drove was a lot and I mean a lot faster then the car I took delivery of. My lag I like to describe is in first gear ( I have a 6 sp man ) at idle ( car rolling along in first gear at idle) If I floor it I do not get the rush or turbo power delivery until 3krpm, a second and a half later. If I keep the revs above 3k I get only a slight delay of power. BMW claims this is absolutely normal. Though there advertisement is to " have eliminated lag altogether" . I hate BMW now and have just sold my tii. I think I will go with the rs4 next or maybe a Benz. BMW SUCKS!!!... Merry Christmas eileen!!!!!

Rb, how did you confirm msd80?

We're in the same boat on 29.2/30.0.2 and hpfp ending in 881.

+1

I have an April 08 335i Coupe that I picked up ED 04/28/2008.

I posted long ago that when the car was redelivered it seemed to be different. I just have never been able to decide since I took it easy and still stayed within the break-in recommendations while in Europe and then it was 2 months before I saw the car again. It did seem to me that it had a less throaty exhaust note and was less responsive below 2,000 to 3,000 RPM but I don't get the exhaust burble and pop on decel that others here have noted. I guess I will have to contact the service department and see if they can tell me which Progman I am on. Does the SA need to read the keyfob or connect to the car to see the Progman version or can they look it up over the telephone (btw - I am iDriveless).

I am thinking about doing a factory alarm so maybe I will wait until v32 comes out.I think the whole program must be reloaded with the addition of a new alarm?

OK fellas, i went in and got the 31.0 update.
with all the xmas traffic and stuff, did not get to run the car too much (about 40 minutes worth).

basically the 31.0 feels similar to my previous 29.1, but i hope this software is better and just needs a day or two of hard driving to be fully adapted.

this is my hope anyways, does bmw software need adaptation time?

thanks

RB did you see this on BMWCCA forum?
http://www.bmwcca.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3739
The first post claims he got 31.1 and it fixed everything on 11/06/08 in the US. Whats up with that?
The they mention all theletters and how it helped get the problem solved.

Well. If that is correct - and I believe it is - my guess was right that there is no difference between EU and U.S. cars with respect to v31.1.: it is really much better lag-wise.

On the other hand that would mean that something is and will be "wrong" (in the sense of my posts above) with cars that already have it and still don't feel better than with v29.2/v30.x.

While v32.1 should fix it (because wastegate response behaviour will not matter any more), there must be something else that should be looked after.

Hell just froze over. Bmw just offered either to buy my car back or a cash settlement.

I'll find out more after I fully wake up.........

Shaddai what actions did you take to get that response? Did you file a complaint with the BBB, lawsuit, ...?

BBB, mainly. A few follow up calls, calls before the complaint, emails, rattling some chains at the dealer... I'm still in shock, actually.

Are you not interested in seeing if the fix in two weeks cures it?

Be careful what you post on here since it is monitored by the reps at BMW. I am 100% certain they are going to make you sign a confidentiality letter stating you can not provide the details of your settlement.

I have an 07/07 build that I don't believe has ever been re-programmed according to my service records.

I just came from the dealer after getting my 15k mile service. I asked them to verify my software version, but don't re-program. He assured me that they did not.

...but then he threw me for a loop when he said that I have the latest firmware of 23.something.

What is that? I was expecting a number like I've been seeing posted in this thread, but I don't recall a 23.???
