Regarding E30 MHD tune on an e92

Quick question about running 30% e85.. If using the MHD tune for e30 does that mean you always have to run an e85 mix or will it adjust if you run only standard pump gas?

you have to run E30 mix

DO NOT run pump gas on this tune, switch back to a proper gas tune if you dont have the right mix of E85 and pump gas

Is it right that ~5.5 Gallons of e85 on top of a tank of 93 octane gets an e30 mix?

Also.....if I mess up the mix somehow and end up running closer to e40 or e20 will I hurt anything on an e30 tune?

Sorry to thread jack, I've been wondering about those things!

Get a calculator from the app store. Also you can buy a ethanol content tester to be a bit more acurate when mixing. Im running e50 btw and use one.

E92 tank is 16.6 US gal. So 30% ethanol would be 4.98 gallons of pure ethanol, or 5.85gal of E85. The problem with this calculation is that e85 doesn't have to be exactly 85% ethanol, there's a fairly wide range:

Thank you Vivek....that's what I've been reading, the e85 can be different atatiin to station and pump to pump. I had thoughts of buying a JB4 (to handle the e85 for me) and doing the BEF. You guys talked me into going with the MHD alone. Happy with it for sure, but should I want to play with e85 (Indiana, and we have no shortage of corn OR e85) I'm nervous.

I'll look into the testers for sure then.

The e50 is definitely worth the hassle I'm assuming? Would you even call it a hassle?

Motiv makes a flex fuel setup that works with MHD. It has an ethanol content sensor (technically it's a gasoline content sensor, so any contaminants would be counted as ethanol fwiw) and a custom tune that adjusts for the ethanol %.

Slight sidebar, does it effect the blend if you use ACN91 as opposed to normal 91 for the e30 tune?

Running late and having to pump twice would be the only hassle sometimes but its worth it.

Not really, as it is still 91, just a crappy version of it.

As said, if you don't want to have to measure and try to figure out what the content is, check out the Motiv Flex-fuel setup. With the flex fuel setup and the flex fuel module on MHD you don't need to change tunes for gas/e content, just fill up with what you have available and the tune will self adjust for the fuel. I've been running it since they released it and it's awesome.

Well then! Why in the world would I ever need a JB4 then! I looks like for $385 I'd have all I needed. Thanks.
