Transmission faulty
hi,
I have experienced this message 2 times within the last year. Makes me nervous Is it just a software error? One time was yesterday where I drove quietly on a parking lot at the supermarket. Suddenly this message came on and the car would't go into reverse. The problem with reverse didn't happen last time. The car can run, however, with significant less power. The solution has been to just lock the car and wait 10 minutes till it goes to sleep. Turn it back on and the fault is gone. |

I just did the transmission service on my 97K mile 6AT. The transmission now feels tighter and shifts are much quicker. The fluid was dark, not red, but stil somewhat transparent. I used Redline D4 and purchased the replaceable pan/filter with a OE ZF replacement. I let the car sit for 3 days so I could get all the fluid I could out of the valve body and torque converter.

Fluid hasn't been replaced. BMW are suggestion this but I think that is there default answer when it comes to an AT gearbox with problems.
They told me it would cost $1,400. That sounds ridiculous to me. They told me that 9 liters goes in the gearbox + they use around 4 liters for flushing the gearbox + converter for old oil. I paid less than half for my 335d but maybe the 335i uses a more expensive oil. |

Pull the code, then you can see why you are getting the light.

OP are you X-Drive or RWD? I was quoted $430 for a BG services transmission flush which also comes with a warranty from BMW Ann Arbor. Had my RDU BG serviced/flushed and filled for $145 by the same dealer.
