I have a 335i MT that it's reverse went out a while ago and I've been driving it as is, gears 1-6 lmao. Finally deciding to fix it.
My question is, would a 135i/535i Manual transmission be compatible for a swap? Or do I need just a 335i? Been hard to find 335i n55 trannies Edit: If I were to go n54 transmission route, what else would I need to be able to make it fit with no problem? I've seen people go from automatic to manual and needing a different flywheel, do I as well? |

For the n54 trans| Definitely flywheel, because of pilot bearing on the input shaft and I'm fairly certain shifter parts (arm, lever, rod, etc) to match the different dimensions. Also, the driveshaft requires a shorter length of 1470mm, but I've read of someone reusing the stock one which measures at 1485mm.
There may other parts that I have missed. |

Yo Ib2peezy, I'm literally in the same exact boat. 11' 335xi and my reverse gear went out, I have been picking my parking spots very carefully these last few months, and luckily she pushes easy lol.
I am pretty sure that we need a 335xi transmission but not 100%, would be good to know because I cant find any affordable n55 transmissions either. I found one forum where someone put a n54 trans in, a few other things had to be changed over as well and at this point this might be the only realistic route. https://www.1addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1632598 Good luck and keep me updated!
