N55 Downpipe DIY?

Anyone know of one of these? I want to get a downpipe and install myself and was wondering if there was any guide.

That will be one annoying install without the right tools and without a lift.

you need basic socket set/ratchet. inverse torx 10mm and a couple big ones.

MAKE SURE you inplug the sensor before you remove it, and MAKE SURE you install the o2 sensor in the new downpipe BEFORE you plug it in so you dont twist the wires.

i have done many DP installs but i have a lift.. i couldn't imagine doing it without one.

If you drop the subframe do you need an alignment after?

I did not have an alignment, and its been perfect... I took it to VAC and they did the same, told me to take a drive and if it pulls to the side they'll do an alignment but the car ran perfectly straight. So I can say that its not neccesary by just that much... but if you feel the car pull to the side then you should...

im sure its not, but if you mess up its gonna cost a whole lot more to fix rather then just bringing it to a shop in the first place. I'm all for DIY's but i leave some stuff to shops that i don't feel confident in doing myself

Here is my order of operations along with sockets/sizes:

REMOVE
Remove Ground Covers (8mm Socket)
Loosen driver side steering rack bolt, remove passenger side (E12 Torx + 16mm (5/8in))
Remove heat shield plate (T25 Torx)
Unscrew Exhaust bolts (13mm Socket)
Unscrew Exhaust brace (E12 Torx)
Remove Tranny Mount Bracket from DP and Transmission
Unclamp VClamp (13mm Socket)
Remove O2 sensors (7/8in Wrench)

INSTALL
Attach tranny mount plate to new DP
Install O2 Sensors
For stock DP: Align DP bolts to exhaust (don’t tighten)
Install VClamp (don't use bolt)
Line up tranny mount points (put screws in, but don't' tighten)
Tighten VClamp
Tighten Transmission Bolts (14mm Socket)
Bolt Up exhaust loosely
Install Exhaust brace
Tighten Exhaust to DP
Install Heat plate
Install Steering rack bolts
Install Ground Covers

FWIW I do mine on a set of Race Ramps, and it usually takes about 3 hours.

Worked out pretty well. I did snap a bolt on the stock pipe/cat. How can I get the bolt out of the pipe?

Notes to people:

Losen the rear exhaust bracket and take the O2 sensors out will the pipe is in the car. No need for subframe lowering or losening. My subframe didn't even budge when I tried losening it so I just wiggled the pipe outand use the extra room available once te downpipe was stripped of transmission mount and O2 sensors.

Took about 4 hours the first try. I didn't unbolt any subframes but I did scratch the unholy piss out of my hands. Not too bad if you're patient and have the right tools. GL.
