I'm escaping via listening to music, watching movies, YouTube videos, and I just bought a couple of video games (Modern Warfare, and Golf Club 2019).

Kurt Cobain, Chris Cornell, Aaron Lewis (admittedly more towards 2000), etc.

Also...would you say the 80's were better than the 70's, or were they equal in greatness?

90s was the last great decade for music IMO. 70s & 80s also had awesome music. Now I feel old again

No disagreement there, the 70's and 80's DID have great music. I mean, this all kicked off with me referencing American Pie which was from the 70's and is a classic...a great song.

But the pinnacle...the pinnacle...90's.

I would put 70's first as ground breaking, but 90's next. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the 80s but the 90s was a game changer. It was different. I think I'm going to go home and listen to some Audio Slave.

70's (and there is some cross-over from below): AC/DC, Blondie, Boston, David Bowie, The Cars, Cheap Trick, The Clash, Fleetwood Mac, Joy Division, Led Zeppelin, Tom Petty, Pink Floyd, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Rush, The Ramones, Bruce Springsteen, Talking Heads, The Who and Warren Zevon.

80's (and of course, there's carry in from above): Aerosmith, Pat Benetar, The Beastie Boys, Tracy Chapman, The Cure, Def Leppard, Depeche Mode, The Eurythmics, Foreigner, Genesis, Heart, INXS, Journey, Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, Sarah McLachlan, The Police, Prince, R.E.M, REO Speedwagon, The Smiths, Thompson Twins, U2, Van Halen, Steve Winwood, ZZ Top.

The list just writes itself. And the 70's-80's were just before the age of lip syncing, Auto-Tune, etc. Nowadays, a lot of the "musicians" wouldn't know how to play an instrument if you put a gun to their head and are marketed to the consumer as a package-- musical talent not necessarily required (yeah, I'm looking at you, Katy and Brittney).

The 90's sort of bridged the gap. There are some damn good bands there-- but take away the carry-through from the 70's-80's and the list gets a lot shorter. Just my opinion.

Tough question. Personally? I'd say "it depends"-- they're both absolutely great decades, but for maybe different reasons? I'd probably give the 70's the nod for classic "rock", but edge towards the 80's for the more "modern" music, if that makes any sense.

Frick me, I didn't realize Sarah McLachlan was 80's. Mirrorball might just be one of my favourite CD's. There's almost no bad songs on it.

Oh, hang on a minute, I just googled her...her very first album was 1987, but primarily her good work was in the 90's. I feel better.

We have this cool bar in NOLA called Vintage Rock Club & they play anything from 70's, 80's, & early 90's. They also play the music video on the wall which is awesome because sometimes you just stop dancing to watch the old videos. It's cool because it's so different from the other bars.

Aaron Lewis also has a good voice. He's gone country, used to be front of Stain'd which was alt rock. He's still good as country to be honest, and I don't like country. His voice shines through more though, with the guitar and that guy who used to drive his bus which is now his backup guitar (ben kitterman).

Stain'd - It's been a while...I forgot about them. Didn't know the singer's name.

Be mindful, a home office that's not part of the same structure as the home has tax implications!

Speaking of NOLA, Davenport Lounge is my favorite place after going there in 2018. Good jazz, free house chips, great atmosphere, drinks & messing with the older generation.

Pandora could be your best friend. I've got mine trained with everything from Jennifer Warnes and Carly Simon up to Kiss and harder. Basically anything from the 1960's through the computer-synthesized crap taking off in the early 1990's.....

I've been there once. It has a nice low key atmosphere. If we're going down to the city it's either a nice restaurant, a Saints game or a club (not on Bourbon lol). We have so many cool little spots from downtown to uptown.
