Mp3 Title Support & In-dash CD Slot
I have a February '06 build 330xi with the trunk-mounted CD Changer. The 6 Mp3 CD's I have in the changer work perfectly fine, never skip or blip, and display the filename properly up to the 20 character or so limit (never counted). However, if I take one of those CD's and put it into the indash slot, it'll play BUT trunkate the filename title to 8 characters, and it occassionally blips, skips, and/or jumps to the next track altogether. I know it's not the disc as it plays fine in the changer, and if I rewind a few seconds to when the blip was heard, it won't happen the second time around.
Also sometimes I think the indash slot continues to run after I've left the car and shut everything off, time to time (but not often) if I leave for 5-10 minutes, upon my return playback will resume 5-10 minutes from where I left it. Is my indash CD slot defective? Or is this a software issue? I have no idea which version program I have btw and my SA couldn't tell me off-hand last time I asked out of curiosity. Thanks in advance!

There are specific ways you should be burning cds. Do a search of these forums. If you have nero there is a specific ISO version that you need to be using.
As for the skipping... my player does that too sometimes, but not frequently. You could try a software update, but I hear that BMW will charge you for it unless you complain about something being wrong. |

The thing I don't understand is that the same Mp3 CD plays perfectly fine with title support in the changer, it's only the in-dash that's giving me problems. I'm holding off bringing it to the dealer for a couple of weeks until I go to get a post break-in oil change, just thought someone here might have some ideas as to whether it could be the drive itself or the software. Thanks for your input though.
Anyone else have any ideas as to what it could be?

Incase it helps anyone, I thought I'd mention that I experimented burning in Nero with the ISO 9660:1999 file system and now all my Mp3s display perfectly on screen when using the in-dash cd player.
From top to bottom: Data Mode: Mode 1 File System: ISO 9660:1999 File name length (grayed out) Character set (grayed out) 'Allow more than 255 characters in path' has a check, everything else is grayed out. Works perfectly with no filename truncation and no underscores in substitution of proper spaces.

My in dash cd player does the same thing.
It skips occasionally (almost rarely) and if you repeat the track, it does not skip. It seems to do it more with MP3 CDs.
