AC Not blowing cold - Solved

I bought my 2008 335i in January so it was nice and cold and I had no reason to test out the AC.. well now its 90 degrees out and my pregnant wife needs AC and I turn it on and its blowing warm air. My first move was to try to add some R134A. The system wouldn't take any, strange. I purged a test and confirmed I in fact had Freon in the system. I looked at the AC Compressor next and to my surprise I noticed that I was completely missing the Clutch and Cover for that bearing on the pulley. The pulley still spins nice but everything is exposed. After some reading I see that you cannot just replaced the Clutch and Cover. Looks like I'm ordering a new used compressor and hoping for the best!

Any reason why the clutch and pulley can't be replaced?

Now I'm not sure the other forum information I was reading was accurate, because I just found this...

I think there are 2 designs during those years. The older has a clutch and the new one does not. I am not sure which one you have.

The new one might have a shear pulley in case the compressor seizes. And the eBay one with rubber (?) blocks looks like a shear pulley. If so changing it without solving the real problem will cause it to shear again.

Maybe the compressor seized from
low refrigerant? If so watch for debris in the system.
