Car is still looking good!
Took my car to the dealer for a service... no issues, but the bill would have been $1050 if I didn't have the pre-paid service package from the previous owner. One more service left on that, then I'll be on my own... already priced up the parts for that service out of interest, and would have been $150 for me to do it. Not much mark up then Also replaced my rear tyres (not at the dealer) as they were looking like slicks. Just went with another set of RE050A runflats as on the roads I tend to drive on the RFTs ride fine. Car's good as new. |

Yeah - there's several good ones, but unless something particularly curly comes up I'll just do most things myself. I've had plenty of experience working on older BMWs & I heavily modified my e30 - swapped in a 3.5L from an e34 535i, did an auto to manual swap, suspension upgrades, brakes, exhaust etc.
Already replaced the brakes last year on the e92 as they weren't part of the service package & did an interim oil service between the dealer services, which was just as easy as any other BMW I've owned. So should be all good. |

While installing new DPs I dropped the rack far enough to pull the steering shaft out of the spline through the firewall. Don't try that at home. Cowl off...
Managed to turn the steering 360 degrees out of phase. During test drive, first hard right broke the wires for the steering wheel switches. At least i won't be bored next weekend. |

Ouch - that sounds a bit nasty! Didn't realise you could pull the steering shaft out of a BMW steering column (hint: on an old e30 you can't - seems odd that you can on an e9x!)
Will watch out for that if I need to work on the front end. |

I don't think it pulled out of the steering wheel. I think that there is an intermediaries shaft. I'll be removing the airbag tonight so will report back.
