DCT transmission Cog

Dudes, what is that cog just before the engine oil pan and in the transmission underneath the car? wondering why that opening is not covered in my case as dirt gets in and appear signs of corrosion

That's the ring gear on the flywheel. The starter Motor engages with it to start the engine. Don't think there is a cover there.

I started to freak out Went to local garage this afternoon that specializes in gearboxes...told me the same...this opening remains just like it is, no cover or whatsoever. solved
