Also want to know if anyone can tell me if doing this could:
1) affect the safety of my car 2) affect the noise of the exhaust |

Someone in this forum already did this, it is of course possible but i remember that it ruined the beautiful sound of PE. I would not recommend it.

I might just invest in an mtech rear bumper and diffuser with some new tips or some springs and shocks instead. |

Damn.. I don't know what to do now.
Theoretically, it's not supposed to change the sound, is it? |

If you end up doing it, post up a sound clip! It shouldn't make a huge difference but idk if it's worth getting a new bumper, diffuser, paying labor and parts fee for the custom pipes, and on top of that risking that awesome sound. I'm ordering some Cyba tips soon. |

Where'd my VTEC go?

stacking them on top of each other might be a better idea. use the right PE outlet to go to the left bumper cutout, and route the left PE outlet over the other pipe to go to the right bumper cutout. see my drawing at the bottom. either way it's going to be super restrictive and will likely dampen noise due to the bends and longer piping. on my dual exhaust there's definitely less flow and less sound coming out of the right side. performance might take a hit due to the increase in restriction of flow, but might not be noticeable unless you dyno it. safety shouldnt be affected. it's just an exhaust, not a safety structure. in an accident it will just get crushed or bent.

I'm going to see a much more legitimate mechanic and he'll te me what he thinks is best. I know this is weird but I've seen high-end exhaust setups have their pipes connected in an X. If possible, should I try merging both outs before they reach the bumper cutouts? It could make up for the lost sound in extended piping. |

Why don't you just mount two dummy tips where the second set of pipes come out? That way it'll look like you have a quad set-up and it won't affect the beautiful sound of the PE. No one will know.

But live in Montreal... Cold Weather = you can see the smoke come out of the tips. + I'd still have to reroute the piping by a bit cuz the cutouts are more inward. |

My parts are here, car is in garage...
Waiting game has started! We decided on painting the diffuser in sparkling graphite, the rest of my car is Jet Black. Do you think it's a good idea? Would the contrast look good? Also, the 328i PE tips.. Are they as big as the 335i PE tips? Should I change them? Any ideas? |
