Adaptive Lighting Error Code 009CC2

I have a 2013 335is and lucky me hit a pothole (which wound up destroying a rim and 2 tires) and am now seeing this error in my adaptive lighting:

Originally my headlight was pointing at the sky because of the pothole impact. I realized that the adaptive motor had become disconnected from the light...which I have since reattached:

The light is now pointed straight and does the auto level test when the car first starts. But the adaptive lights do not turn with the wheel, and I am still getting the 009CC2 error.

My research has shown that possibly replacing the SMC module could be the culprit...but not sure if that's the case here. Do I just replace the whole light?
