I don't know how anybody could make a low volume hand built car for £15,000. Perhaps they ought to get an industry award?

Regards

I remember when I had mine, I used to do a charity thing called the 'ride and drive day' at a local fair; people with sporty motors would pitch up, and offer spirited rides out, for a donation to charity.

It was all controlled really well, and was run by a couple of chaps in a booth; You'd rock up, show your licence, they'd take a photos of your car and then advertise it at a given price (from memory mine was £20).

There was a decent selection of cars (my buddy ran an ex-museum 328 which was stunning), a Countach, my 348, a couple of Lotus's (Loti?) a handful of TVR's, Nobles etc. A pretty good turn out for an event which wasn't massively advertised.

The best bit being that, because it was for charity, the old bill turned a blind eye to some boot-down action, so you could have a play with some other quick stuff in the manner it was meant to be driven, conscience-free, because it was all for charrriddddy mate (the roads we used were the roads we drove on the Cambridge meet, for anyone that came on that)

Anyhoo, most of us had been there about an hour, just having a bit of a polish-up before the punters were allowed in and this anaemic sounding, rather odd looking 355 rolls up, tunes pumping etc. Some middle-aged old boy jumps out, with the sleeves of his Nylon Blouson rolled up to the elbow, a gash pair of sunglasses atop his head etc - looked like a cross between Alan Partridge and 'sonny' Crocket.

He proceeds to look down his nose at all of us (except the dude in the Countach) and walk down the hill to register. an hour or so later a couple of us have been called to the booth for our first run out, and whilst we're waiting for our co-drivers to arrive, I was perusing the board.

Cheeky f*cker had only gone and told the old boys it was a real one. Charity or not I wasted no time in telling the oganisers it wasn't kosher! His description was modified from 'F355 Ferrari' to 'Toyota based Ferrari Replica' and his price was cut from £20 to £5.

He was also ordered to move his car down the hill to give the space up to some (and I quote) genuine exotica, not a japanese doppleganger.

Oh how we laughed (until mine failed to start later in the day, then I wished for Japanese reliability - still, a smack on the starter motor with a hammer got her going!)

The real mcCoy (taken on that day in question)

I went to a kit car show in the midlands a few years back and seen lots of these MR2's modded as Ferrari's - some were totally crap some were quite good but the size of them gave them away!

My mate has a real Ferrari, a 348GTS to which he has added 355 bumpers and people often ask him if it's a modified MR2.

Ferrari also had the company who were responsible for the Ferris Bueller Ferrari shut down for copyright laws, years ago.

It was a kit based on an MG...

There is a company in the UK selling a Peugeot 406 - Ferrari 360 conversion kit - bets on how long they last? It actually looks much better than the MR2 and Pontiac Fiero based 355 kits (proportions of wheel base primarily), until you realise the engine is in the wrong end....

It does look better than the TR7 based one though.

And imagine, you could have it with a pug diesel.

Relax, the fake eggs thing is a hoax - started here in 2006:

http://www.boingboing.net/2006/04/04...in-china-.html

and exposed here in 2007:

http://www.tian.cc/2007/05/hoax-chin...feit-eggs.html

Fake chickens on the other hand are a serious problem.

Apparently they have been shaving small dogs, rubbing them with pritt stick and rolling them in feathers.
