Lately it has been harder and harder to get the car into reverse. Put it into reverse and soon as you release clutch, it pops out. Have to force it in at the moment. Car is put away for winter and I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this problem.
All other gears are ok. Wondering if could be bad transmission mounts. |

Could be a worn bushing on the shift lever, or the shifter guide rod, whatever it's called that goes between the tail end of the tranny and the body, supporting the shifter.
Could also be a damaged gear, syncro or selector ring. My 335 has some minor damage on either the gear or selector ring, such that once in a few hundred or even thousand times putting it into 1st at a stop, it'll only go in about halfway. Any torque beyond just slipping it into gear will violently throw it out of gear. |
