I pulled my $100 3SIM and I know that the big Disa flap is busted. The donor vehicle is a '06 330i with 193k.. I would like input as to either build with aluminum flaps, buy Chinese Disa for same price as rebuild kit Or pony up $$ and get real deal Disas

I'll weigh in... I tried to rebuild both disa valves and ended up buying OEM in the end. I started trying to use epoxy to reseal, but after a drive around the block, the oil inside the disa valve (necessary to the proper function of the motor) crept into the seam and the back of the valve fell off. Attempt 2, I ordered formic acid and tried again with a second set of salvage valves and the rebuild kit. I cleaned meticulously, used clamps, waited overnight, etc. They still wouldn't stay closed for more than a couple days of aggressive driving.
My two cents is just suck it up and buy the OEM units from FCP euro. Return them for free replacements after 50k miles. The peace of mind that these valves are permanently welded shut is worth it to me after these two failed attempts. |

Rebuild it in aluminum flaps is the way to go. This is the only viable option where flaps won't fall off its cage. Even the new OEM units will eventually fail and start dropping pieces further into the manifold.

Man you should have shopped around I got a manifold for 25 bucks from the junkyard for a 530xi with two rock solid disas. I think I would give a try to some amazon disas or whatever worst case they got warranty. rebuild seems like a pain with these and with 193k those already served their purpose internally and externally with the flap part

Oof. I did notice that some of the disas sold there and on ebay look like they're in the wrong position when not powered in the picture. Idk if this is just randomly the position they are shut off at. I know mines are open when off both of them and they're mahle looking OEM

Just buy new official DISA valves from FCP Euro. It really isn't worth the hassle considering you could rebuild the flap and the electronics could be dying.
Source: I've bought and rebuilt plenty of these
