However, until then maybe I'll check some more bushings. I had several of my suspension related bushings replaced three months ago and that solved my bouncy ride issues. So far I have 228k on the clock. Looks wise I keep it clean and still get asked if it's a new car haha

If you're experiencing this 'clunk' grab your drive shaft and twist it with the car lifted on stands or on a lift. If it re-creates the same clunk you either need to tighten the collar nut or replace the u-joints on the shaft. This is a semi-common BMW problem and led to driveshaft replacement on one of my e30's and my dad's e39.

Is it when you move the shifter itself? Are you sure the clutch is 100% disengaged before shifting?
My 330 thuds, but the only time I'm able to make it do that during shifting is if I don't time my shift well. I can still bang 2nd without it clunking, it's more about not putting any back torque on the drivetrain for mine, but your issue could indeed be different and more sensitive. |

I know this thread got narco'ed, but can anyone describe what they mean by clunk? I feel like I have it but only on 6th gear. If its driveshaft issue, I'd imagine it will be all gears.
