Higher RPM to shift from 1st to 2nd when cold
When its been cool outside, below 70 degrees, and especially if the car has not been driven for a few days, shifts between 1st and second require a higher RPM, around 2500. After about 30 seconds of driving they shift lower, below 2000. If its been warmer outside, over 80 degrees, this doesn't happen.
I had the transmission fluid flushed 6 months ago by a trusted indy. I've heard this is how automatic BMW trannies are? Its supposed to warm up the engine faster? I just want to confirm that is the case and not low on transmission fluid. I think it would take longer than 30 secs to warm up transmission fluid enough for it to expand. Once the engine is up to temp, approx 220 degrees, everything runs smoother, quicker shifts etc. |
