Will I Pass Smog?
So I just recently bought a 2011 e92 328i and have to get it smogged. I had a few questions though. Last smog was from previous owner in October of 2021
Firstly i’m in California. Does it matter if it’s star certified smog or just smog to transfer title etc. I’m new to all this so sorry if it’s dumb. Also the car has a muffler and resonator delete. The cats weren’t touched and the car hasn’t been tuned. It has an AFE intake if that matters. No check engine light etc. If i got it smogged, would it pass as is? What are some recommended things to do before smog checks? Thanks Last edited by clockworkishere; 04-11-2023 at 03:26 AM.. |

The deletes and intake should be fine. Don't know if it has to be a STAR facility for change of title. Seller is obligated to provide smog cert, so ???

2010+ models need to have completed 15 drive cycles and 200 miles of drive time with NO errors at all.
Have you started the car at least 15 times from a cold start and driven the 200 miles? If so and no service engine light has came up, you’ll pass. Not sure about what specific smog shop you need. The dmv should be able to tell you if you call them or when you registered the car. |
