I didn't even know it came with a plastic shield thing. Mine doesn't.
Can the plastic thing come out? You could try buffing it with something like PlastX. |

I think it does come out. I tried a magic eraser and 301 and it's much better, going to get some of that plastic polish and try that as well. last resort will be too just remove it. or possibly buy another.

got it pretty clear with magic eraser, not 100% though. trying to find part number to replace but it seems like my car is the only one with this shield. all my searched show how someone scratched the actual screen.
anyone else have this shield?

You have an ultra rare CIC screen with the plastic shield. You can use either CIC display with or without a plastic housing. If you are interested in selling the screen as/is PM me.

All 2009 models come with the CIC and plastic shield. I used Novus with my random orbital polisher and it came out like new.

+1 on the Novus polish, perfect solution. I mention that at the start of the thread. If you want to make it as good as new, get it, use it, problem solved.

I have an 08 with the larger iDrive screen like that and I have the plastic shield. Didn't know they came without them? Hope you clear it up!
PS not to deviate thread but I've never seen an E9X with a small screen like the E60s have. What's with that? You can get an E60 with that tiny screen or the large one, but the 3 only gets the big screen? |
