Swift Sport Springs!

Many of you are already familiar with Swift springs as coilover replacement springs, like with AST, etc., but Swift has announced that they are currently developing their regular Sport lowering springs for the E90/92 335i and M3 (as well as the Mini), which represent the first non-Japanese vehicles the company will be supporting. Currently their springs are only available for Acura, Honda, Infiniti, Lexus, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Scion, Subaru and Toyota...so I guess that shows us how well our cars are being supported by the aftermarket world! These will be a nice alternative to springs such as Eibach Pro-Kit and H&R Sport, especially when paired with Koni FSD dampers.

I've emailed Swift a couple of times to get a more specific ETA, but so far, no response. I'll update this post if they ever get back to me.

FYI, I had called Swift about this a few weeks back and they said they will not be releasing just normal sport springs, they will be under their Spec-R branding, NOT their Sport branding.

Basically the guy told me that lowering springs are already everywhere and anyone can make lowering springs, they want to do specifically performance level springs as there currently are no performance oriented lowering springs for the 9x.

When they release their e9x lineup, they will be releasing their full Euro lineup at once, which includes mini and a few other euro brand cars.

For us XI owners this is really exciting because as of right now we don't have any performance options (KW's don't really count, progressive springs anyone?). Match these with the only available strut for XI's, Bilstein B8 sprints is going to be great. The price point is hard to beat, if previous Spec-R pricing holds true for these springs, we're looking at around 1-1.2k for a true performance oriented setup with linear springs which is really hard to beat!

[edit] Oh yeah, when I called them ~2 weeks ago they told me "40 days" until they finish dev. That should put release of these springs around end of May/1st week of June. Very soon.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get spring rate info from them as I assume they're fine tuning that aspect, we'll have to just wait and see.

I sent them a message on Facebook, and this is what they said: "We are in the testing phases of those springs. We do not have an ETA yet, but they will come out shortly."

Someone else messaged them on Facebook regarding BMW, and here was there response to him: "Just give a little more time. We appreciate your patience. We are doing some heavy R&D on the E90. We will make sure there is a significant amount of performance increase while keeping the ride close to stock, if not even more comfortable."

They are still a few weeks out on releasing it.

This is interesting. In the Evo world sprint springs and bilstein struts are golden. Only way to beat that setup is to step up to AST, Ohlins or Moton coilovers. I ran sprint/bilstein suspension on my Evo MR and LOVED it.

How do these sport springs compare to the Swift springs sold in your AST coilover kits?

The linked PDF in the first post contradicts what they told you - the Spec-R springs are listed on the second page, and the prospective BMW springs are not to be found there. But - who knows, it wouldn't be the first time a supplier PDF was incorrect. Can't wait to see what they bring to the party - this could be just what I've been looking for to mate up with the 'old' version of the E90 Performance Suspension still boxed up in my garage.

Very cool. I ran the 350z Swifts on my G35 coupe with Tokico adjustables and it was a great combo.

I'm really, really excited for these. I'll be curious to see how they get around the issue of the lack of travel on stock springs/shocks that gets exacerbated by lowering springs....

Reduced drop, linear and slightly higher rates may do it.

What really needs to happen is shorter body struts and shock. BMW built these cars with so much droop travel, but no compression travel.

As someone who's dealt with Swift, Eibach's and a ton of custom rate ground controls before -- I don't think I'd want to ride on anything but proper Swift's again. I think this will be worth the wait especially after feeling how awful everything feels with h&r's on sport struts.
