Priming the Oil Filter Housing

Hi All,

I've been reading how important it is to prime the oil filter housing with oil after an oil change on the N55 engine, and how failing to do that can lead to spun bearings. Anyone know if that also needs to be done on an N52 engine?

If by "prime" you mean filling it with some oil before reinstalling the filter, then no. You don't absolutely need to on either engine, it's just generally good practice. Most people don't even do it.

You only need to prime the whole oil circuit if you replace the oil filter housing gasket. Doing that is a completely different procedure.
